Fluid Pages: a zine-making workshop led by Rachael House

  • Mimosa House 47 Theobalds Road London United Kingdom (map)

Book here.

This is a free event.

  • This workshop has very limited numbers. If you can no longer attend, please contact the gallery at assist@mimosahouse.co.uk so that your ticket can be made available to others.

  • We encourage participants to arrive 30 minutes before the workshop, to view Mimosa House’s exhibiting chapter Fragile Archives. Please note that the exhibition includes depictions of nudity.

  • The workshop will run for 2 hours, with a 10-minute tea break

In this 2-hour structured workshop, experienced queer zinester Rachael House will guide you through the process of creating your own minizine, delving into themes of gender identity, fluidity, and autobiography. Held at Mimosa House during the third chapter of transfeminisms - Fragile Archives, the workshop provides a space where individual experiences are respected, celebrated, and recorded.

By the end of the session, you will have created a finished minizine to take home. No experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. We will be sharing our work with each other throughout the workshop.

Rachael House‘s Fine Art practice explores queer and feminist politics through objects, zines, drawings, events and performances. House’s art is featured in numerous publications, such as Crafted With Pride, edited by Daniel Fountain (Intellect); The Art Of Feminism (Tate); and Resistance: The LGBT Fight Against Fascism in WWII (Stacked Deck Press). Her work is currently part of A Real Woman, a billboard project with Artichoke/The Gallery. Previous exhibitions include Fats Femmes Bisexuals (Parlour Gallery), You Get To Choose Your Family (Whitechapel), Resistance Feminisms and Gender (De La Warr Pavilion and Arnolfini). Her work is in private and public collections including The V&A Museum and Wellcome Collections. Her book, Resistance Sustenance Protection was published in 2021, supported by ACE and Metal.

This workshop has been curated in response to Chapter III: Fragile Archives of Mimosa House’s exhibition transfeminisms: a major survey touring show, that brings to light a multiplicity of urgent, pressing and ongoing issues faced by women, queer and trans people across the globe.
