Mimosa House presents "Psycho Power Theatre"

This first reading session will gather artists and poets who use theatrical form and oral speech in their performances, twisting political and psychoanalytic discourses.
It is an invitation to deconstruct the authoritative power of rhetorics in the organisation of public, political and social life.

À travers des utopies hystériques et enivrantes, Rona Lorimer, sabrina soyer, Lisa Jeschke & Lucy Beynon détournent l'autorité de discours dominants qui structurent l’expression personnelle et la subjectivité.
Lisa Jeschke & Lucy Beynon started making performance work together in Berlin in 2008 and are now based in Cambridge and London. They make experimental theatre together, cross-dressing themselves with figures of power in the political scene and socio-cultural UK contemporary realm. Their projects together have included 4.48 psychosis [posthumous attempt] (2008/09), john hurts [from idiot] (2010/11), he’s dead / he’s dead / i’ve shot him in the head (2011), Terrorism (2012), all of which they have performed widely at festivals and venues in Berlin, Europe and the UK. They have also made performance pieces for the radio and in the visual arts (Five Live Performances, 2011/12). Their last theater pieces include David Cameron [a theatre of knife songs] (published by Shit Valley, 2015), The Tragedy of Theresa May (2016).
sabrina soyer is an artist-writer based in Paris working in the in-betweenness of french and english languages. She uses performance, audio recording, posters and installation as ways to extend the experience of literature out of the book. Her works focus on the material history of (non gendered) subjectivity. She works freely between the forms of prose/ essay/ verse poetry and more often mix them on the page and in the oral compositions she performs, or record as « audio pieces ». Her last works focus on the feminist and queer appropriation of canonic forms of poetry, more specifically the genre of the Epic, as in her last book “Confus et Symétriques” (Dona Quixote Press 2018). She is part of The Cheapest University, an experimental school created by artists, where she runs writing & experimental translation workshops called “How to become a Lesbian”. She created the publishing house “Dear Queer” where, along with the participants of the workshops, she run the magazines “How to become a soft corpse recomposed in light fabric”.
Rona Lorimer was born in London and now lives in Paris. She is a poet, translator and writer of essays, fiction and experimental theatre. Her performances propose articulations of subjective experiences related to her day jobs; playing with the sharp end of feminised labour, translation mistakes and psychoanalytic jokes. She is currently working on a long essay on the state of emergency and riots in France called ‘Waitress’, about the experiences of waitressing and riots, and translating a memoir about armed struggle in France in the 1970s into English.
